Has there ever been a time when your family had a serious effect on your mental health? Like maybe you had a sibling who was rude or bullied you, or you had a parent who was abusive. Or anything relating to your family. I've had a good upbringing, but have had some cousins and family who were rude to me, but I didn't let it effect my mental health too much.

But what about you? Has a family member ever caused you problems that later effected your mental health?

I grew up with a dad that was abusive and took fun in comparing me with the other children around. He always talked about my weaknesses and never praised any of my strengths. I ended up developing complex issues growing up. I always felt not good enough and always looked down on myself. In fact, I grew up with a very weak mentality. Started developing mental strength around by early 20s.

I grew up with my mom who was a single mom. My dad was never present in my life. This affected my sanity. I had friends who had their fathers drop them off at school and fathers who would pay up their fees but in my case, the reverse was the case as i had to bear the name of a man who was still alive but was never there for me. This affected me badly till date.

Family can have a big impact on mental health. Supportive family can help you feel safe and understood, but conflicts or pressure can cause stress or anxiety. Even small patterns over time, like criticism or lack of attention, can affect how you feel day to day.
